چکیده
Basella alba L. (Malabar spinach) is a non-conventional food plant (PANC) with high nutritional value and economic potential. Light critical factor in growth, acting directly on the photosynthetic process. The photoselective meshes combine physical protection of plants selective filtering solar radiation to promote physiological responses. This work evaluates growth B. under different light environments. experiment occurred greenhouse at Center for Agrarian, Environmental Biological Sciences Federal University Recôncavo da Bahia completely randomized design plots comprising one useful five replications. were grown three environments: red ChromatiNet mesh, aluminet-thermo reflective mesh (both 50% irradiance), full sun. increased root dry matter mass stem diameter. aluminet average number leaves by about compared cultivated results show that cultivation environments promotes morphophysiological changes positive increments growth.

The Effect of Light, Temperature, Ph on Stability of Betacyanin Pigments in Basella Alba Fruit
The fruit of Basella alba is often considered as waste so the study was aimed at exploring the feasibility of using the fruit as natural colorant using acidified methanol extraction. The extracted betacyanin pigments then were exposed to number of environmental conditions, which could destabilize the betacyanin molecules. These environmental conditions were included fourteen different pHs, vari...
متن کاملAntioxidant analysis of betacyanin extracted from Basella alba fruit
Basella alba fruit with dark blue skin and deep red violet flesh is a potential source of natural colorant. This study was aimed to evaluate the total betacyanin content, total phenol and to analyse the antioxidant activity against DPPH radical, superoxide anions, hydroxyl radical, metal chelating, hydrogen peroxide, FRAP, ABTS and deoxyribose degradation in a dose dependend manner. Betacyanin ...
متن کاملPhotosynthesis and the Xanthophyll Cycle-mediated Photoprotection in Leaves of Quercus Rubra and Q. Alba Seedlings of Different Light Environments
Two and three years after the outplanting of 1-O northern red oak (Quercus rubra, NRO) and white oak (Q. ulba, WO) nursery stocks, the highest net photosynthetic rates (A-) were observed from seedlings growing on a clearcut site followed by those under a pine stand. Both NRO and WO seedlings under a hardwood stand had A, less than 10% of the full sun seedling A,,. Oaks grown under hardwoods inc...
متن کاملPhototaxis of Cyanobacteria under Complex Light Environments
Photosynthetic bacteria are capable of producing their own food via photosynthesis. Unsurprisingly, they evolved the ability to move toward better light conditions (i.e., phototaxis). In a recent article in mBio, Chau et al. tuned the wavelength, flux, direction, and timing of light input and characterized the motility of the unicellular cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. strain PCC6803 (R. M. W....
متن کاملGrowth and reproduction of invasive Vincetoxicum rossicum and V. nigrum under artificial defoliation and different light environments
The exotic vines Vincetoxicum rossicum (Kleopow) Barbar. and Vincetoxicum nigrum (L.) Moench have become increasingly invasive in lowand high-light habitats in North America, and a biological control program is being developed. These plants experience little damage in North America, so it is unclear how they might respond to introduced herbivores. I conducted an artificial defoliation study on ...
